That's exactly what we all did back in the Dungeon Master / Chaos Strikes Back days...

I would also like to make a suggestion concerning "charged" secondary attacks.

How about this:
1. doubleclick starts charging ---> charging bar starts filling...
2. doing stuff with other chars (normal attacks, secondary attacks/start charging)...
3. then later release the fully charged secondary attack with another click (if charge bar was full - else release a normal attack).

In this way you have it all - tactics, flexibility and a somewhat realistic behavior. You could also give visual feedback if the charge bar is full - like blinking the character portrait or the charge bar or whatever.

The same approach can be used to do spellcasting by the way. Instead of making spellcasting a mayhem by forcing the player to click several runes AND then click a release button every time.
When you do it like this, you can also use very long charging times (say for very time consuming actions like casting a powerful spell or performing a tricky maneuver) without blocking all other party members.

Ok, thanks for reading.

That sounds like a good idea, Boeroer

Thanks Neikun.

Also have a look at the "Quick Spellcasting"-thread: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5737&p=64352#p64349
What I postet there is kind of related to this.

This is a very cool suggestion.

I love the idea of special attacks, but having to hold down the button really hinders the rest of the group for that short period of time. In theory, it's that specific adventurer charging his/her attack, so the others shouldn't be passive while so happens.

I agree too. Very nice suggestion.

- Choose the character who will use a special weapon attack this round.
- Attack or cast spells with the other three characters.
- Those three characters are now on cooldown.
- Charge the fourth character's special attack instead of just standing there.

This is pretty much how I do it when I do it.

I just find most of the special attacks vary Meh. But they are useful in some cases and in those cases this is the way to do it.
