Doesn't matter. The DRM free version and the Steam version use the same save games. Not sure about GOG but the Humble Bundle version came with both the DRM free and a Steam key. You can hop into Steam, set it to beta and make a game there with the patch right now. Switch back to DRM free when the patch is available if you like.

If no bugs are found in the beta, the update will probably be officially released early next week.

That's actually the problem. Having non-retroactive effects like that turns it into a system mastery element; two characters with exactly the same stats, but one arbitrarily has more health because he raised Vit before Str while the other raised Str before Vit (to use one example)? Not good - at best it's a nuisance to have to game the stat system and at worst it creates a trap for new players. Getting a flat bonus per point is much better, and it's also consistent with every other stat effect.

It seems to me that Grimrock does not recognize when primary and secondary mouse button is changed in windows system settings for left-handers. I would appreciate if this is implemented in this patch or a possible update after that.

Thank you for fixing bugs and keeping the game updated! I added a farmer with fireweapons specialisation to my party and his poor performance, along with some other decisions I made, makes me want to start a new party. But I suppose I should wait for the official patch release to make sure all changes carry over to my save game. Do you expect future changes, to items like the buckler for example, to require an new save, too?

We'll generally try to patch older save games if possible. In the buckler case, the bug was kind of minor (the buckler did not give evasion bonus when held in hand, but worked from the wrist accessory slot) and the fix was rather complex, so we decided to not to take the risk that patching the save game would break something. In short, there's no reason to hold back playing the game.

A related question to patching: Will version number show up in title screen as it was with LoG1?

As always, in lower left corner.
