Excuse this useless thread, but halfway through the first playthrough I just wanted to thank the Grimrock designers and devs for not treating me an idiot – like most games these days do, unfortunately.
There's joy in trying and discovering how things work in the game. I'm talking about not having retarded modern-game tutorials, like "walk here, well done, now press here, great job, see how this button works, good boy, have an achievement".
In Grimrock 2, I don't feel like the game is treating me like a drooling moron. Instead I get to figure out how the game works, by myself. It's rewarding.
That's all.
Thank you for not treating me like an idiot, Grimrock 2

Glad to hear that you like the game! This is exactly how we intended Grimrock to be, challenging (no hand holding) but fair and rewarding. Have fun!

I like how the tutorials were done in both Grimrock games. No scripted cutscenes, just some simple, easy puzzles and hints, and then let the game evolve from there. The player is never pulled out or interrupted.
The controls are also very simple and intuitive, so you don't need to read lengthy instructions.

adding my 2 cents and support to this thread!!
I have played and played and played Grimrock Vanilla and a ton of mods for that very reason.
So many newer games today have so many methods of creating overlays and huds and outlines and blinking pointers that literally remove all manner of playing a game and simply grab you and direct you from point A to point B.
Brilliant gems like this that encourage mental expansion and exploration I am ever so grateful for.
And I am happy there are still designers and creators that value this type of evolution.
