9/10ths of the fun is solving the puzzles, but i guess some people just don't have the patience for it.

That's one of the reasons the adventure game genre died out, I'm sure. When you know you have the solution immediately available on the internet, you'll be much less patient trying to figure it out yourself.
Also, some of the old school games had some really bullshit puzzles. The tactic "Use everything in your inventory on everything you can until something happens" had to be employed way too often for my taste.
LoG seems to have struck a nice balance, so far.
