Character Export/Import

Since there is going to be Community mods and expansions, I was wondering if there would be a way to play as the same characters.
Storyline-wise, I have not completed the game, so if it is part of the scenario that your character(s) do(es) not make it out and can no longer be available to do some more ADVENTURING and/or crawling, I think it would simply be a matter of changing the timeline. (Having your party before the whole Grimrock incident)
The Import/Export could cause some balancing issues in the standard campaign, but just like Baldur's Gate (and the other games), it is a choice, a feature, an option.
It's always great to have choices. EYE: Divine Cybermancy had 32 player CO-OP. It wasn't "fair" to the campaign, but it was there and it was great.
So, I would like some character import/export. Whether it be just the character with or without the items, it's fine.
I have grown attached to Moomoo the minotaur and it would be really cool if Moomoo could keep on crawling.
Thank you for you consideration and for making such a great game.
I told a bunch of my friends about it, well done!
