I've been playing Dungeon Master off and on since release, on Amiga and then Emulators, java etc..
The one thing I can complain about, is magic casting, it feels wierd to right click on the hand to get the spell runes up. Dungeon Master did it better.
It seems like everyone want to get rid of the tension in combat. The point in the rune system is so you can't spam powerful spells and makes you think in combat. please don't change it
I would like to have a 4 slot spell book that can be hot key'd to alt 1, alt 2, ect... then when we click on the spell book it would allow us to select 4 different rune combinations and they would be assigned to those hot keys for quick and easy access.
The OP mentions dungeon master. Don't criticise her or him for wanting "click and go" because that is not at all how dungeon master worked!
In fact dungeon master took more actions to prepare spells than this game did!
- select character appropriate tab
- select power level
- select at least one rune
- click on the rune output to cast spell
this game
- rightclick on castyhand
- click on at least one rune
- click on the cast button
I do agree it feels clunky though. How can my mage punch? If my mage is carrying a compass, why can't they cast a spell?
I don't really like the right-click-on-weapons to attack though anyway, I'm constantly left clicking to do the 'default action' and disarming my party. And it's not like I've played dungeon master in 8 years, so I don't think this is inertia speaking. I did prefer DM's approach of having attack buttons be one set of buttons and the equip be in a different area, but not just because i'm used to it. It made mistakes nearly impossible.
