My understanding is that unless otherwise directly specified in the notes all patches are backwards compatible and do not require a new game.

Err .. guys? Does anyone also has the crystal in Wormbound Catacombs moved below the planks due to this update?

Yes.

I have applied the patch to the GoG version of the game, and I found that crystals disappeared. Turns out that the crystal model had dropped one elevation; and sits just below where the crystal is normally [and is still] placed in the game.

In My case I just happened to have saved my game there the other night, and the crystal was absent when I reloaded the game tonight.
(I patched the game as soon as I saw the update.)

Bug confirmed. Crystals on platforms do not work correctly. Thank you for the bug report!

Hah - so that's why that crystal wouldn't work there. I encountered it only a few days ago prior to this patch.

I thought it was just part of the game, that it was a false crystal to troll player. It was definitely weird that there was just a plain empty room above it, and I could just walk through the crystal in the level below, and clicking on it did nothing.

I am affected by crystal bug, too. However, I just stand on the platform above the crystal and I can click crystal below the platform I on and the crystal will heal and save game as usual.
