Cemetery Top Right

Post by Sir Tawmis »

With the six pits or so, with the buttons you need to press to cross...

I am at a loss. I have tried what seemed logical. I have tried what seems to be random. I can't get across (now that I have crossed it once and pulled the lever).

Look at the pits. Which are open, which are closed. When you push a button, what happens? When you push another button, what happens?
SpoilerShow
Think of it like 2 "closed" platforms, covering a pit when they're in a position. They move independent of each other. Each button rotates one of the platforms clockwise. If both are on the same space, nothing special happens, but only pit is covered.

Then it's just a case of using the 2 "platforms" to get you where you need to go next, and find out which platform the next button moves, so you can keep them in the needed positions.

Yeah. I have hit a wall here. I have tried to logically think it through like you described - but everytime I am one tile away from leaving, there's that button I need to press (one of them) to make that last tile flip over - and I always fall back down. Going to walk away and save my sanity before my frustration gets the best of me. :|

I guess I can't figure it out. I keep thinking I have it and I don't.

Heavy spoiler ahead (almost a step by step solution)
SpoilerShow
All the buttons on one side move one closed tile clockwise and all the buttons on the other side move the other tile clockwise. So you have to move the tile from the right button up to the tile before the second button on the left and the leftbuttontile in front of it, so you can reach the second button. Then press this twice and you are on the other side.
This should also give you the method to get back after you are finished on this side :)
And if this does not help, I look up my Lets Play, where I have solved this. But it is in german, so if you do not understand german it may be difficult to comprehend the solution.

Go and figure. I was about to give up on the game. I tell my wife to come in, take a look, explain how the puzzle works. She clicks a few times, I ask if she knows what she's doing, and she explains she's trying to figure out the pattern. But then I realize, in those brief few minutes - she actually managed to figure it out before she "found" the pattern. So I spend 2 hours, she spends 2 minutes.

Anyway, I am finally past this! And now stuck in another spot in the cemetery! But that's a new post...

So the way I did it...
SpoilerShow
Per the person's explanation above. I put a throwing knife in three party members hands. (So I took off whatever weapon they had in that slot; so character 1, 2 and 3 now had a throwing knife). I face the center teleporter, then step on the tile - then turn and face which ever gate opens {it seems random} - and throw the knife, then immediately turn back to the middle one {in case it's that one or the other}, turn as needed, character 2 throws the knife, then finally character 3 will turn to the last gate and throw the knife).

Make sure NONE of your characters are encumbered (snail icon on their portrait) as that will slow you down when it comes to turning.
