A Sincere Thanks for Making This Game

Yo, I just wanted to take some time to thank the devs for a special gaming experience. It ranks right up there with my first playthru's of Baldur's Gate 2/Throne of Bhaal + Dark Souls. Pretty rare and special imo

Have been reading some posts about people trying meta for additional playthru's but I don't know how you can match unraveling the island's mysteries for the first time, let alone playing the game again once you've learned the puzzles (puzzles being the biggest challenge in the game imo). But to each their own I suppose.

I wish I could nicely summarize everything I really appreciated about this game, but it's impossible without a wall of text. Simply put, thank you for bringing this genre back into relevance, thank you making it hard-core and unforgiving and thanks for vast range of substantial/meaningful improvements over Grimrock 1. One of the definitive gaming experiences of my life.

Fingers crossed for a Grimrock 3.

I totally agree. There is much debate on various aspects of the game, but it's weird / a little bit deceiving not to see more people taking the time to tell how they enjoyed the game.

Grimrock 2 is now amongst my best dungeon crawler of all time, with dungeon master, eye of the beholder and the best wizardry. It's been YEARS since i didn't had such a great obsessive gaming experience.

Almost human, a real thank you, you have my deepest dungeon dweller respect...

As a sidenote : credits gave me a subtle stab with the opening words about henri. I don't remember having heard anything about him, can anybody give a little bit of information on what happened ? Sickness ? Accident ?

It's just more interesting to nag on the things that weren't perfect. I'm sure almost everyone commenting on negative aspects love the game and are commenting because they care about it. The developers can always take a quick glance at Metacritic if they're feeling discouraged by the fans on the forums ;)

I absolutely agree with the OP.
The game is awesome! and on so many levels.

I wish I could selectively wipe my memory so I can play it over and over again for the first time.

I was going to complain that it was too short, but then I looked at my time played and it was nearly 100 hours, so I'm going to instead complain that it was so good, it warped my perception of time to the point where 100 hours felt like 10.

When's the next one coming out? :)

Yep, a lot of users providing feedback and suggestions do so because they love the game and would like to see it improved or certain aspects changed. :) Plus, it's fun to speculate. :P

In the light of this topic, what were everyone's favorite moments in Legend of Grimrock 2?

One of mine was definitely arriving on the Barren Desert. Nothing beats that sight!

Best moments :
- Staring at the castle for the first time, after only a couple of minutes of play ("Damn, am I going to explore THIS ?")
- The desert, of course ("What the HELL ???????") seriously, no dungeon crawler baffled me with respect, excitation and fear at the same time when discovering .... this...
- The final battle(s), mixing funny quotes and real challenge : now that was a perfect boss for a player like me !

And... a lots of other minor stuff (underwater, pyramid, mines....) ; the overall polishing of animations and environments is clearly top notch.

Starting the game and seeing the ocean.

Meeting a merman and have him juke me.

Trying to bump into the invisible wall at the river but instead fall in and drown!

Meeting a toad in the swamp and have him steal my weapons and jump around.

Meeting a Mimic in the swamp.

Visiting the Crystal Mines.

The epic desert army.

Solving the puzzle of the hidden shrine.

I'd like to join in the "Sincere Thanks", this game is simply awesome.

And about the "what the hell" moment in the desert: I actually immediately saved after teleporting there and then named my savegame

WHAT THE F#%K
^^

also the first mimic was one of the most memorable moments. it was the one in the bog and I was excited since the "secret found" popped up and then ... teeth!
