Need the fastest way to get food

I'm very sad to say that I killed all spawners in herder's den so I don't have that option. I think I'm pretty far in the game now. Opened the castle doors with the 4 elements. Fighting snake priests etc.
Now I can't find any more fishes in the canals. I can only find turtle meat, rat dog meat, frog tongue and those other wolf like creatures.
Has anyone figured out when the creatures are generated. I was trying the theory that it would generate once a day but I thought I found that pattern until I did one test where I waited 3 days to see if 2-3 frogs would appear. When I tested that theory there were actually no frogs to bee seen at all. Strange. Maybe I need to enter the place and get out to accumulate the generation.
I just wonder if anyone figured out a system.

Thanks for any help I can get.
Cheers

If you have the console enabled, you can do:

spawn("turtle")

Kill the turtle (should be an easy kill), and loot the meat. Rinse repeat until you're full.

I think real time is related to respawning, similiar to crystal recharging (5 minutes I believe).

It could also be related to the amount of steps you take (which matters for alchemist herb duplication)

Is there any other respawn place like herders den in the game I might have missed?

I have found monsters respawn on their own given enough time away from the area. In particular, frogs and flies in the bog seem to be reliably present whenever I go somewhere else for a day or two and then come back to the bog. Frog tongues are surprisingly nutritious and should tide you over. The turtles on the initial beach respawn too, as do the herders in the herder's den area even after you destroy the spawners, although much more slowly.

I've seen turtles in the beach, wargs in twigroot, and frogs in keelbreach all respawn. I've also seen things respawn in the forgotten river*
Someone posited before that it may be partially a factor of time and partially a factor of distance.
Ie: Explore Shipwreck beach. Go to Twigroot and explore for a while. If you go back to shipwreck beach, you'll find more turtles.
Similarly, if you go explore the Forgotten River for a while after doing twigroot, then go back, you may find some wargs by the altar back up.

But after clearing Keelbreach, desarune and some of hamlet, I go back to shipwreck and there's nothing there. I go back to twigroot and there's maybe 1 mob.
I go back to forgotten river and there's a TON of mobs. None of which drop food, and all of which scare the pants off me.

respawn feels fairly complex to me
even more so than LOG1 which was both a combination of time and stepping on a specific invisible trigger plate.

here the respawns are definitely affected about which ares are completed or when certain elements of an area are triggered.

I had so much food even in my first playthrough that I dumped crates in the hub.

Your best course is to hunt the wargs and turtles.
there are no other respawns that show up in that density (as in strombreach and beach)
frog tongues are great as are snake tails too

hub to the beach run a lap in the entire area
hub back to stormbreach.
pay close attention to where you step when you hear a turtle or warg spawn (sometimes when I returned to the beach I would walk on a certain tile and hear a turtle come into existence.)

How many dungeons do you have left to go?

The hatchery hidden in the NW corner of the sewers - you have to venture underwater for a while to find it(where the crystal shield is I believe) & it provides a ton of fish. Every time I went there were about 10 fish to catch. The fish everywhere else didn't seem to respawn but the hatchery is a goldmine for food. My food resources were starting to look grim but the hatchery fixed that problem.
