Because lemme tell you I am trying to find an arrow I lost in the herder's den and goddamn that is frustrating.

I KNOW it's somewhere in the boss room because I came in there with 10 but I only have 9!

Actually I had another odd moment where I lost ammunition in an enclosed space. Does ammunition get destroyed at all?

It's possible you missed once and shot it out the door of the room you were in. And depending on how you went about defeating the Herder's Den, you may have shot the arrow into a monster that then proceeded to wander outside of the boss fight room and will find it later after you kill it.
