I just need to grumble...

I've been playing RPGs for over 30 years now... started with Rogue clones, then moved up to Gold Box games, EoB, etc, and thought the experiences were pretty good!
I played most of the way through Grimrock 1 without needing help, but frankly, I'm completely lost now... I know I can go ask for help on the Hints forum, but I'm so lost at this point, I wonder if I should even be playing??? I even went back and restarted on Easy, after getting nuked out of existence in the Herder's Slaughterhouse...errrr... I mean Den...
But I'm completely blocked now; nothing but closed gates in Sleet Island, the west end of Cemetary, East end of the Ruins... S#*@ !!!!!
Well, this is as far as I'm going... I am NOT going to ask for (or search for) more clues... I will either figure out how to move on, or I will stop and play something simple like Skyrim (again).
DAMMIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe in you.
That's not a hint. I just believe that you can do it.

We all need hints in life, and games, sometimes! Never be ashamed to asked for help!

In most of puzzles the note or message that relates to that puzzle is nearby. The statues are also important part of the main plot. If you dont mark what the statues say, you can not finish the game. Most of the messages also have somekind of meaning even though it may look like gibberish.

Well, okay, I managed to get past the Skyway obstacle... I've probably seen a puzzle more obscure than that, somewhere in my life, but can't think of it now!!
However, judging from other comments that I've read, it only gets more obscure from here on out!!!
I think I need to go to my doctor and get a tranquilizer perscription!! Either that, or just come to this forum and grumble on this thread again!!
What I want to know is this: How did the very first person, who didn't have any hints to look at, ever figure out these D#&*@! puzzles??

I thought the puzzles were pretty good. Usually I can play these games on autopilot. There wasn't anything I didn't think was fair about the puzzles from start to end. The only one that gave me trouble was getting into the mines (I'd forgotten the clue), and I ended up only getting past that by accident.

Gorlash, sometimes taking a break brings the answers to you. This game definitely has tougher puzzles than the first one.

Hey,
I know what you mean Gorlash.
The first time I went to the Slaughterhouse at level 5, I was pretty much butchered.
Got back there with level 7, still bloodbath
I'm gonna get back to there when my party is level 9 and get some revenge.
Couldn't get to the central island in the Sleet Island zone also.
But there are the hints the statues give you.
So I went to the Cemetary, but couldn't proceed because I need some info from the Archives.
So my next step will be Ruins of Desarune.
Don't give up man.
The game isn't like the first part, where everything is pretty much straight-forward.
You've got to do some more exploring.
You can do it
Cheers,
PSY

Do it yourself! So satisfying when you think it through and solve puzzles yourself =D

Thanks for all the encouragement!! I think I *am* going to just take a break for a few days, as Batty suggested.
I got through Skyway, then figured out the two-floors puzzle completely by myself, though the reward was just a heavy helm that I'm not interested in. But immediately after that I hit another obtuse puzzle, and I'm just tired of them, I wish I could just explore for awhile, without being constantly blocked by puzzle after puzzle...
