Friends game crashes and hangs his computer

For a friend of mine the game crashes and hangs is computer. I've instructed him to manually install Direct X and the vcredist that comes with the game. He'll also install the newest GFX-drivers. Any other suggestions?

Overheating is problem especially with faster GPU's. There is slight bug as there is no fps limits, so GPU will be overloaded.
My 560Ti surely is screaming if I don't turn VSYNC on.
