Alternate death systems

I have only poked the Mod tools a little as I am waiting to complete my first playthrough before working on something.
But has anyone looked into the scripting enough to answer this for me. Is is possible to trigger events on party death? What I am thinking about would use an alternate system to the reload and crystals for party reviving. Where after the party has wiped instead of game over they get teleported back to a point restored and maybe given some sort of debuff for a time.
