Leveling

Hi all,

I'm new to the series.

I'm about level 5, having rerolled once after reading a lot.

Anyways, a couple questions.

1. Is there any way to grind extra experience? My gut tells me no - that you're locked in to the amt. of experience they expect you to have as you progress. I've noticed if I back-track, nothing has re-spwaned.

2. I'm at the area with these earth-elemental rock golems and everything I try does 1 damage. I currently don't have a mage in the party. I remember last game the mage was the only one that really hurt these guys. Can anything be done early on or do we just run by like a little girl and live to fight another day?

I feel under leveled in general. I just got to the part where I can first turn in power gems, and I had 5. Essence of fire procured. Feeling a little lost at this point. (The lack of text-based walkthroughs is a little annoying. They're all video).

Anyway thanks for the feedback!

As far as the leveling goes, enemies do respawn after some time. Also, if you're playing a farmer then they get exp from eating food so they can "farm" exp way easier than the other classes since the fish respawn in the lake and river (plus a lot of the enemies that respawn drop food too).

Pretty sure enemies (at least some enemies) respawn after one in-game day has passed. Only in outside areas though.

As far as where to go next:

Once you reach the river, the game opens up a bit, but in terms of difficulty the bog is the next area after that I'd say.

I had actually just posted about enemies respawning in another thread. I like to kill the turtles for food and once I waited about 10-12 in-game days and the turtles never respawned. Another time, I killed all the turtles, went and did a few stuff, about 1-2 in-game days later I went back and the turtles had respawned. I think enemy respawning is based on number of tiles walked instead of time... but that is just a theory.

Enemies respawn pretty much everywhere, just can't tell at which rate. For example dungeons you have done a while ago can become quite populated again.

I think I found a place where you can make enemies respawn indefinetly but it's inside Castle Nex, so spoiler ahead:

Inside the library if you mess up the lever combination for the stairs you spawn 3 of those snake-like mages.
I tried 3 times and they always respawned when I got the wrong combination.
I haven't tried if it works after you opened the door though.

You can grind a few levels out. I am at the castle now and I am level 14 with no real grinding of any kind. But grinding for extra levels is only good until 17-18 as level 19 and beyond the xp curve bends so far it touches itself.

Only in outside areas though.
No, they respawn in some dungeons aswell.

I had random enemies spawn all over the place, even where they are not "supposed to be" theme wise.

2. Bombs and critical attacks are very good against them if you don't have a mage

Two words... Herder's Den.
Unfortunately if you kill the boss then you can't do this, but basically you kill all but one part of the boss and it'll infinitely spawn mushroom guys. The great thing is the mushroom enemies drop food so you can level your farmer and your other characters at the same time, and you can back yourself into a corner and rest for hp and feed youself when your characters get hungry. In just a short time time I got all my characters from level 10 to 16. It's a great way to test end-game party build without having to go through the whole game since herder's den can be accessed very early on.
