question re food and hidden uses

Post by snow »

Some food items have descriptions, and some of those make me wonder if those items might be usable for either potions or, more likely, pie! So, can anyone confirm if I should save them or not, there isn't a lot of inventory space available and I'd rather not carry all those mushrooms and other other unusual grub around if I'm on the wrong track. Anyone found the pie for the achievement and care to tell if it has to do with those foodstuffs?

Grim Cap mushrooms are mentioned in an Alchemy scroll.

Thanks cokebottle, just wish those were stackable then like the other appropriate supplies for that use then.

Can anyone who got the pie achievement comment if this is in any way related to it, too?

Grim cap is used in combination with other TWO herbs (it's the only recepie that needs 3 ingredients, besides the flask) to make a "maddening" potion. a good thing (or bad, depending on what side of the player curve you are) is that you dont have to try (and fail) when creating potions, you just put the ingredients and if nothing comes the other way, try with a different mix... loosing nothing.

Did you get an achievement for finding the slice of pie? And you say it was found, not created from ingredients?

Yes, figured out that recipe when I found the scroll mentioning grimcaps (wasn't hard with what few items werw available to try). Didn't find the resulting potion terribly useful so I think I'll just save what few bottles I find for healing potions.

When i played with my 2 fighter party, i was often found brewing a couple of these potions, in pair with the speedy one, whenever i was expecting trouble. Now with my 2 rogue party (1 unarmed front; 1 ranged back), my ranged rogue deals SO MUCH damage, i hardly have any time to let the other guys get a hit
