Aside from the obvious Easter egg, this thing does grant +5hp.

question is... does it do anything else?

It raises your level by 1. Doesn't give a skill point, but all other benefits like the rogue crit chance per level.

Well...if one of your characters happen to be pregnant, you can find out which gender the baby will be. Hmmm getting pregnant...that would be a whole new way of "level up" ;)

ah. all I noticed was the hps going up. :P that makes it a tad more useful.

However, it being a clear referrence to Tolkien's One Ring, there is also a parchment describing how the wearer of the ring dropped his key to the water. I would not be surprised if it also has some hidden bad effect, like bad luck, or loss of critical hits, lower accuracy, etc.

Not if you wear it as a necklace though. And since GR2 doesn't have a ring slot, looks like the devs have a pretty strong case if accused of not implementing it (also, invisibility on a single character won't be all that useful). It would be nice to be able to destroy it at some lava pit and get.. well, some personal closure perhaps.
