There is no use to toss rocks at the poor statue

You will get a serpent staff which has an ability to shot bolts at the stone face statue. Just hold right mouse button and shoot it in the mouth

What happens if you throw rocks instead? should have i done it with staff? Do you lose anything?

i have no serpent staff only a whitewood wand from my wizard

If you dont have the item required to pass there, you will have to go look somewhere else. And when that adventure grants you the item, you can come back here, to unlock the bridge

After throwing a rock to the face you will notice a small light trail has activated, near the water.
