in the southern part of Sleet Island, there is a bit of a puzzle. the sign simply says hold your breath. the thing is, there is a pressure plate in front that doesn't stay pressed even when you put equipment on it. i did what the sign told me to do and i allowed 2 of my party to drown because i thought that it might be a timed pressure plate. has anybody found a way to solve this puzzle?

It is a timed pressure plate. You have to stand on it for a pretty long time, and unless your party has very large energy pools, you will have to take drowning damage.

Hah. So I have the energy to stand there and take it and live - but when I did it - one of those underwater creatures with the tridents trapped me in that corner, since we can't attack under water I perished... talk about annoying!

How long does it take? Stood on the plate with full health and energy until my party died even without those Zarchtons attacking and it didn't open up.

that timer is quite lengthy. If you want to do it early game drink energy potions or healing potions on one champion.

You WILL run out of energy, and you WILL begin taking damage before it opens up.
One trick you can do is have energy potions in your inventory of one person (don't equip it). As your energy depletes, quaff a potion. This will allow at least one person to survive the ordeal and then go to the crystal to resurrect those that didn't make it. It's possible to do without doing this, but you may need more energy - you will find items in the game that greatly enhance someone's energy level.

Hi,
didn't have any problems with that puzzle. Not a single party member died, and I didn't even throw an energy pot. Or a healing pot.
Here's what you can do:
1. Kill the underwater beasts by jumping onto them from a ledge
2. Equip your guy with most hp with a healing pot and an energy pot
3. Step onto the pressure plate by taking the shortest path possible
4. When your energy depletes, throw the energy pot
5. When your hp deplete, throw the healing pot
That should do it...
Cheers,
PSY
