Purchasing LOG1 and LOG2 package-a question

Post by Mr.Grocki »

I'd like to purchase this package but it seems to me that there might be some sort of mandatory association with Steam that goes with the deal.

I've had this happen once before with Tombraider and don't want to go there again.

Is it possible to buy and run LOGs 1 and 2 without any tie-in to Steam?

Thanks :-)

Just scroll up to the top and click on "Buy".
AH hands out both the DRM-free version and a Steam key so you can play which version you prefer.

Thanks for that.
One more question: Think I'll be able to run LOG2 on this rig?

W7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel
1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

It runs LOG1 okay but LOG2 seems to be much hungrier...

That GTX 560 Ti should do ok; maybe a tad lower on a setting or two here and there; depends on the area.

Thanks again. I was beginning to worry: I read somewhere that I need a GeForce 8800 (or equivalent) and that would be right out of my league :-)

Later: Just checked with the Boss and it looks like I can maybe get a GeForce 750 Ti. Would that be adequate?

Thanks for your help :-)

err .. the GeForce 8800 is an about 8 year old card. Yours is about 4 to 5 times as powerful ;)

Performance-wise the 750 Ti is just a very very slight upgrade from your 560 Ti, perhaps 2-3% more rendering power; absolutly not worth it for you. If you want a performance boost - which you won't need - then you'll have to go for at least the GeForce 760.

Dr.Disaster, you've been most helpful. Thank you very much.

Locally (NZ) the 750 Ti is a $250 outlay. The 760 is around $350, which is currently a little out of my range.

So I'll take your advice and give LOG2 a run with the GTX 560 Ti.

Actually, the card was only a GTX 560 to begin with. Then, 26-27 months down the track, I started seeing corrupt graphics, flickering screens and reboots. I returned the card to the wholesaler, who tested it and found no problems, but sent it on the the manufacturer, EVGA, who replaced it with the Ti. Great service, I thought. I'd buy their products again.

Cheers :-)
