planning a magic user: Off-hand staves? Spell list?

Post by redsocialknight »

Will a battle mage be able to wield a magical focus in his off hand while using a weapon with his main hand, or are orbs and staves two-handed or main-hand items?

And has the spell list been spoiled yet? Is it essentially identical to the first game's, or is there a bit more variation among the spells?

If you're going to use spell casters, go into the options menu and tick "One-click Spellcasting", it makes it so much better

And yes, they're all one-handed. Unless an item says it's two handed, it's not

I know there's at least Concentration based spells, instead of just the 4 elements.

Scrolls seem a bit more abundant, so I haven't worried about that.
Tiny shame they don't require you to read the scroll with the character before they can use the spell.
I keep them all anyways, first time through at least.

I just write down the spells on a notepad and toss the scrolls.

Other than that, I really like the few new spells we're getting.

Its some kind of habit I think. My inventories are always full of items I probably don't need.
Guess its a good thing I've got a packrat.

Main reason I keep scrolls around is because they are extremely lightweight paperweights, ideal for holding down those plates for puzzle rooms.

It would be nice to see a spoiler free-ish list (no scroll locations or runes) of the spells and how many rank of each skill they require to cast, just for magic-user skill planning purposes.

I use the bags and cases to clean up my inventory. My wizard just keeps all the scrolls within two bags. My minotaur knight carries two cases of food. Etc. Makes it simple to keep an orderly inventory.

You know after you "learn" a spell by casting it once it shows up as a trait in the trait window and mousing over it shows the casting runes.

No need to write anything down unless your about to reroll your part or something.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
My end game stats LoG 1st play through

Yeah, so do I. But I also have a bunch of torches, despite using the orb to light the way all the time.
I've started using them for puzzles. XP
