Why are savegames in Documents?

Since Windows Vista, it's been very easy for developers to set Documents\My Games\Game name as the savegame location. Unfortunately, Grimrock has joined the long list of games that completely ignore that fact.
I'm one of those weird people that likes to work on his computer so in Documents, I keep a bunch of documents. Essays, assignments bladebladebla. Not having clutter created by games that fill it up with their own files and folders is great because it makes it easier to find those files that are in Documents. A place for documents.
Is it perhaps too much to ask for a simple patch that moves the savegame directory to where it should be; Documents\My Games?
Grimrock has set the precedent for games in a lot of areas, simple folder organisation is another area it could aid in the pioneering of.
Additionally, I also have Dropbox set up with symlinks to automatically sync my savegames. This is done much easier if all save games for all games are in My Games.
