Wayside Intervention

Post by Eleven Warrior »

Hi ali in reply to the below Subject from AH.

Oh boy, here comes some huge news! We have a hard time even believing it ourselves but Wayside Creations, the creators of the most excellent Fallout – Nuka Break web series and films, are looking into creating a live action Legend of Grimrock series! Stay tuned for more info!

Is this such a good idea?? Does that mean LOG2 wont be the same??

To AH please leave the Game you created the way it was intended to be, not what wayside tell you it should be ahy..
LOG is a good game and when other developers come to the party it changes the whole game outlook. I have seen this happen over the many years i have played games..

Please leave LOG2 the way it should be.. I hope i am not jummping the gun here, but i have heard the above before and seen games to Crap ahy..

I will as you said stay tuned and hope it's for the right reason :)

Thxs and keep up the good work AH :)

I thought it was just going to be a lore based web series, and not really affecting the actual game.

Yeah, while I truly doubt that the series will be good. Wayside is an independent FILM group not game developer. (I said group because studio may be stretching it.) They are also doing there series off Grimrock 1, not 2. I'm pretty sure at least.

As for my first sentence, it seem really implausible they could do a good grimrock series. Unlike fallout you can't go to a patch of desert and spread trash. Building the dungeon sets would cost, alot. But far more importantly: Camp is very easy on a low budget, Fallout is gleefully campy. Thus so can it's show be.
Grimrock however is not in particular. (I'll admit it doesn't have much plot at all.) So I doubt it is going to feel much like Grimrock, more a parody of the dungeon crawl genre in general, as Fallout is to the post apocalyptic genre.

Hi all :)

In response to Asteroth. I have played Fallout 3 and it is a good game there's no doubt about it, but unlike Grimrock it does not have many or if I remember any puzzles. Not like LOG1 as with Skyrim.

The best thing I like about LOG is the puzzles and the old school style of play eg: DM1 and DM2 and many more like it. I do hope you are right about LOG1 become film and not a new game LOL..
I belive some games are best left alone. I don't know if you are aware but they made a Movie on Dungeon Master it was ok, but had none of the characters from the original game, which is sad or meant to be. The movie had a party of 2 Thieves and 1 Apprentice Mage and 2 Evil beings. I do hope I was not the only one who saw it..

So if LOG becomes a film I hope it looks good and contains some of the original characters names from the game and keeps the Dungeon feel not wandering around the Land like Fallout 3... The film should start in the Dungeon like the game ahy :)

AH has made a brilliant game and I would hate to see it get trashed, I don't like to see good games get trashed as I have over the years. :)

Hi there! Rest assured that the web series won't affect production of LoG2. Wayside creations will be in charge of the web series project creatively. We will provide feedback. Wayside did great work with Fallout Nuka Break so we are confident their treatment of Grimrock will be of same high quality (or even better).

We do hope that the web series will increase the visibility of the game. Our marketing budget is practically non-existent so this is a great opportunity for us.

Don't worry. The series (hopefully) will be set in Grimrock world and share lore with LoG1 & 2, but it will be Wayside's own production. The series won't affect LoG2 in any way.

--Edit-- Hmm, Pete is faster typer. But if the replies were done in Wacom, I bet I'd been quicker. :D

I do admit I did like their Fallout: Red Star. Otherwise I found their work seemed to be pretty much cheap jokes, however I didn't watch much of Nuka Break. I guess the fact they made one thing that wasn't just campy humour (which does, I admit, mesh pretty well with Fallout) means they could do this.

I watched all their Fallout episodes yesterday and it's rather good. I did expect more computer stuff than the aiming percentages. I just wonder can you make that many episodes based on LoG. You escape one dungeon and then what? Now Fallout was straight forward without any difficult sfx, but how will the monsters look?

Hi all :)

Well I don't know if I missed something but the series could be based on (Legends of the Northern) you all know what I am talking about, the project that has not made it currently.. Legends of the Northern would make a excellent series don't you think??

It already has a lore based Script and the guys who intended to finish it would probably think its a good idea, maybe AH could tell Wayside to look at this Lore of this Mod that never made it. A ambitious project, massive infact..I think it needs a look at from both parties..

Its a shame this project never made it to reality but could possible to make a awesome series from the material that's already available.. :) As Frenchie said a series based on.. you escape from 1 dungeon to the next would after time get BORING.. Like the game there should be plenty of Puzzels, and the Monsters should be from the original game LOG1. That would make the series authentic..

Perhaps AH and Wayside could talk to the people who were on the Legends of the Northern project and get a series up and running, or they could ask the community for some input ahy..

To AH.. Yes I know you are a small outfit and need the marketing exposer, but remember who you are and don't let the big boys push you around. Developers do say you have input, but you don't get that much. Why? because they have the MONEY.. This I do know..

Anyhow rambling on again LOL have a nice day all :)
