it would be very nice, when i can close the character menu by pressing ESC.
so if i am not in the char menu, ESC can open the gameplay menu, but when the character menu is open, it should close this menu.

Same feeling here, I automatically press esc when I want to leave some kind of menu xD
I am learning to do it the right way though by right clicking the portrait, you just need to remind yourself every now and then haha ^_^

My first instinct was to use esc too, I'd really like to see support for that implemented . Also why not have 'x'' do the same, youknow, like the X icon where you'd close it with the mouse.

Same. I hate using mouse to close them off with the X.

I'm not that keen on the magic casting neither with the mouse. Prefer keys.

I confirm, but this is not a critical error. I'm waiting for the patch, I happy with everything.

btw. if you didn't already notice, keys 1,2,3,4 toggle the character sheet so you can close the character sheet without using mouse already.

In that case, a quick press of 1 (if on the first char), or worst case press 1-1 to open and close the character page. That works fine for me, and the button is right next to escape.

Though I do agree escape should close it. If you want to keep the ability to pause while the character screen is up, you could enable F10 as an additional menu button, like older PC games used.
