Is there a demo for this game?

Hi, I am considering whether I should buy Legend of Grimrock. I'm not sure if "dungeon crawlers" (that's what they call it, right?) are really for me.
Thus I would like to know whether there is some demo version out there? I can't seem to find one, but maybe I did not look hard enough.

I have tried reading the FAQ, but to no avail.

plenty of youTube let's play vids, watch a few minutes worth, a couple minor spoilers yes, but you get a real idea of how the game is, somewhat like a demo

No, there is no demo.
You can read this little discussion on the subject :

No demo I'm afraid, which is a shame. At full price I can fully understand wanting to find out mor about LoG before buying it. Although, if you like the Genre, Grimrock is excellent - but I can see that not everyone would like this type of game (they're wrong, but hey ;)).

At the moment though, you can get it on Steam at 75% off (next 24 hours) or as part of the current Humble Bundle for $7 with about 8 other awesome game (next 6 days). At the price of a pint of beer - it's definitely worth a shot if you like any sort of 'thinking' game and/or RPG!

LoG is also in the Humble Bundle, so you get to decide how much you want to pay.

Talking about alcohol.. says it's worth a shot.
I'm laughing my ass off... I may have stayed awake too late...

Thank you for your answers.

@Komag: A "let's play" vid, while nice, is just not the same as a playable demo. Like the difference between watching "Super Moonwalk" on Youtube, and doing it oneself ;-)

@FlashSoul: I have read that thread, which is pretty terrible. Are there no moderators here? Insults and personal attacks should have no place here.

@JohnWordsworth, juho: Good call with the Humble Bundle, I just might be getting that one.

That said, I still think it would be a good idea to provide a demo version of the game. Maybe the first two levels or some such. Should really not be difficult to remove the rest of it. Since they are already selling the game on Steam, adding a playable demo there should be a no-brainer.

Just some forum information here:
Green names on the forums are admins appointed by the dev team.
Red names on the forums are the devs.

That said, there is a surprising amount of bad language in that thread. I'm glad it's locked now.

Another alternative to a demo might be a freeplay weekend. While it is entirely possible to beat the original game in 2-3 days, if would give people a chance to test the editor, get addicted to it, and immediately have to buy it after the free weekend is up.

Well, in my opinion deleting posts which violate the forum rules (via insults, spam etc.) is the right way to go.

I've actually been wondering about this lately: maybe a "demo version" that is essentially just the first level of the dungeon, ending when you descend the stairs to level 2? It would be enough to give someone a feel for the basic character creation, puzzle/secrets, and combat elements without spoiling too much of the dungeon, and if necessary the .exe could be restricted to only loading that one "demo dungeon".
