Hello all! New to the forum, but I have been gaming for over 20 years. Really looking forward to playing this title soon!

I hope this isn't off-topic for the forum: This nod to gaming's past has me thinking about PC gaming in the 80's... Does anyone remember when games came on floppies, and many came with security spin wheels (or other devices) that you had to manipulate in order to unlock a given game? If you lost that thing, you were up a creek without a paddle! lol Or what about the hint lines that you could call if you got stuck? They were some astronomical price per minute...I got into so much trouble for calling them and running up the phone bill!

I remember an old racing game with alot of sporty hot rods where you drived against people for money or their cars and got to tune your car... but for the death of me can't remember the games name. Had a page with answers for the secret "questions" game asked every time you started it Played the game when I was the size of a small fire extinguisher...

I remember those games and the wheels Still have a collection of them around here somewhere... I never called for the hints, my parents would have killed me. Changing out the floppies to get to the next part of the game. I started keeping a 'logbook' of the security answers so I wasn't paging through all the books. I can't wait to munch on those worm wheels or were they rinds? lol Did they get replaced by snail steaks?

Well, I'm sure I remember it was something like "Wasteland" that came with a book of numbered paragraphs. The game would direct you to them to continue the story, rendering the game useless without the printed material...

While that was a good form of DRM the reason they did that was they ran out of space so all the text was moved well onto the book. Man I would love Wasteland 2 came with a book for the dialogue just for the nostaligia!

I used to ring up those expensive numbers sometimes, my parents weren't pleased at all!

ah! never realised that...

If it weren't for the fact LoG will be waiting for me when I get back in tonight, I'd be digging that game out and going through it

aah yes.. calling foreign BBS's to download por...umm...discuss about games... parents getting ~1500fim phone bill (about 300 current euros) .. getting modem and computer seized about 6 months... priceless
