A skeleton and its shield.(Same question, whole new problem)

Okay resetting the top of this thread is kinda weird but I really am asking basically the same question. So here I go.
Seeing all the progress people had made with models but most of all having seen Skuggasveinn's Modeling for Grimrock tutorial I figured I might as well just try it. Suffice to say everything went wrong. I selected and deleted the shield just fine however when I look at the textures every thing is scrambled and insane. The UV maps are all in the right positions (as is the texture picture itself) however the the texture on the actual model is scrambled. I have tried rotating the UV maps 90, 180, and 360 degrees, it just changes the insane. This was the more minor problem.
I decided I didn't care TOO much about the texture when it was all gonna end up pitch black so I just imported it to the GMT to check it uot whlie I figured out how I was going to lower that arm on the animations. And, of course, animations would not load.
If deleting the models shield means animations will not work how do I do this? Is my entire quest insane?
Here is the original post for reference.

I am planning on making a new monster called baneguard using the skeleton warrior as the base. While my retexturing work seems to have gone well, as I mentioned once before I have never done any digital modeling (then again before about a week ago I never edited anything).I want to
1) Turn the skeleton black, maybe other texturing. I can do that.
2) Make the skeleton semi-transparent. Can probably handle it, at least with a little reading.
3) Remove the skeletons shield.
Yeah
Thats the biggy. Before wasting a lot of time I just wanted to ask if this project is feasible, at least without spending months. Or the alterations to the model would require much more experience. And, my biggest worry, that it would damage the animations too much. So what do you think
