Abandoned Places 2, anyone ?

Post by Neil79 »

Did anyone ever play abandoned places 2?, it was one of the BEST dungeon crawlers on the amiga... I clearly remember the skeletons walking about somewhere in the dungeon when the game first started, it was also one of the best looking dungeon crawlers on the amiga. However it was never ported to the pc only the first one! massive shame :(

Haven't found any abandoned places 2 gameplay trailers though

I think I played the first one, or maybe I confuse it with Black Crypt.

Love that map Mychaelh. Done with passion.

Just checked image to make sure, and it is Bloodwych. Never played it but liked the cover artwork.

I played Abandoned Places 1 and 2 on the Amiga. I never completed them. I got stuck somewhere. At that time there where no internet available to look for solutions. The music was excellent in the games and I still listen to new remixes of them that could be found on the internet.

Bloodwych was the best game of its time, I know not everyone will agree but come on it was multiplayer!

I really hope Almost Human will do a mod to allow multiplayer so that Bloodwych could truly be remade with the grimrock engine as it would be awesome!

I had a friend who kept going on and on about Abandoned Places being the best RPG ever made or some such nonsense according to all the reviews he'd read - so I eventually got a copy for my Amiga and we played it together and found it really not to be anywhere near as enjoyable as EOB or DM. I can remember being in a crypt with skeletons or something, being stuck and not feeling any desire to get myself unstuck.

Another supposed classic I've never been able to get into is Ultima Underworld II - I know as a DM and EOB fan I'm supposed to love it but again I find it really nowhere near as good, and the gameplay to have dated far worse than DM.
