Grimrock @ Reddit - Launch Day Giveaway

Post by Clapyourhandssayyeah »

Hey there grimrockers! :D

If any of you frequent reddit then come check out /r/grimrock.

We're organising a launch-day give away, where members of the community can donate grimrock preorder codes into the prize pool, and other redditors can win copies of the game!

We're also looking for a couple more mods to help promote the subreddit, tweak the css, user flair, etc.

We'd also love to have the official developers be added as moderators to the subreddit, where they'd get unique user icons so they stand out, etc. Reddit is a great opportunity to communicate with players.

Peace :)

If people donate codes to the pool, how do you guarantee they're not keeping the standalone copy for themselves and then giving away the steam code? I have a feeling that is akin to pirating the game. May be better to collect money and directly buy the codes if you want to make sure your giveaway is on the up-and-up.

Because basically they can't do that: they cannot access the page where you get the Steam key and the installer without claiming the gift for yourself and thus invalidating the gift code.

Hey everyone. I am involved in the grimrock subreddit and giveaway as well. So far we already have about 10 donated copies to give away.

One rule for the giveaway is your reddit account must be more than 30 days old. This is to prevent people from making a bunch of accounts to enter multiple times. However, If you want to enter and are new to reddit, include your grimrock forum name that was created before April 1st in your entry and you are eligible. Make sure to read all the contest guidelines. We want this to be fun and fair, but it is the internet.. so we have to have some order to avoid confusion and whatnot.

I misunderstood, I thought they were giving away the steam key not the humble bundle code. I suppose either way there just has to be an element of trust with a DRM free stand alone installer anyhow.

Yeah, there are going to be stand-alone installers all over the place on the 11th anyway. So for anybody who wants to steal it, "how?" isn't going to be a problem.

We will just have to find them all and take a dump on the driver's seat of their cars. That'll teach them.

That's it - we'll be giving away the unique humble bundle gift urls. I guess we can't really ensure the donators aren't lying, but we're hoping for the best as there's not really any incentive to lie.

26 keys donated by redditors, and 10 from the developers themselves so far :)
