Would it be possible to get new blog entries e-mailed to me?

I like reading what you write on the blog, but having to check if new stuff is posted is bit meh. Having a way to get the blog updates delivered via e-mail would be awesome and also save you some load on your webserver of me polling the page

RSS is quite far from the convinience of email for me.

why ?
RSS send a message on your RSS Reader, or your receivce a message on your email, it's the same.
More certain email client receive the feed RSS surely like a email (I don't test this).

Conventionally you can configure RSS feeds to pop-up using either your browser add-on or more recently mobile phone apps (Android & IPhone are rife with freebies)

Google has their own "RSS Subscription Extension" for chrome.

Which basically links the RSS feed to your email account (don't be mistaken, I have no doubt that 'free' means you'll be hosted to a few ads)
