I just finished the whole game in two weeks only to come across the impression that a HIGHER attack speed might mean the weapon is FASTER ... what?!?
I would always dispose of weapons with high attack speed, because I thought it meant they were slower. Now I'm confused. So what's faster: a higher or a lower attack speed number?

Higher value is better score.
Perhaps a way it makes sense to you is to think of it as "Attacks per minute". I'm not sure if that's correct, but it's at least close enough. So if a weapon with attack speed 12 would attack 12x per minute, a weapon with attack speed 10 would attack 10x per minute.
Obviously, you want to attack 12x per minute, if you had the choice.
It should also be noticeable that weapons like daggers, swords and bows have a faster attack speed than classically luggish weapons such as axes, maces and crossbows.

Oh my, had I known earlier. Thank you.Thels wrote:Higher value is better score.
Yes, and now it makes perfect sense to me. Next time I'll drop the crossbow in favor of that nice longbow, obviously. And keep the better axe and sword, too.Thels wrote:It should also be noticeable that weapons like daggers, swords and bows have a faster attack speed than classically luggish weapons such as axes, maces and crossbows.

It's pretty obvious that HIGHER speed mean the something is FASTER. How could you think otherwise?!!!
To help you out in the future, here's a reference:
HIGHER speed means the something is FASTER.
HIGHER strength means the something is STRONGER.
HIGHER intelligence means the something is SMARTER.
HIGHER health means the something is HEALTHIER.
HIGHER saturation means the something is MORE SATURATED.
HIGHER dexterity means the something is MORE AGILE.
HIGHER prize means the something is MORE EXPENSIVE.
HIGHER temperature means the something is HOTTER... and so on...
Now I really wonder why have you though otherwise. It make no sense at all that HIGH SPEED means something is SLOWER (?!).

HIGHER duration of swing, obviously.Merethif wrote:It's pretty obvious that HIGHER speed mean the something is FASTER. How could you think otherwise?!!!

You're over-thinking it. There's no sophisticated expression like "duration of swing", but simply "speed".Bees wrote:HIGHER duration of swing, obviously.Merethif wrote:It's pretty obvious that HIGHER speed mean the something is FASTER. How could you think otherwise?!!!

So HIGHER intelligence means that someone is more stupid because intelligence means (by your logic) HIGHER duration of thinking about riddle before finding an answer. Derp.
I'm not trying to troll you here so please don't take it personal. I'm just really surprised by the way you could understand HIGHER stat.
Re: Weapon Attack Speed - confused
Very funny. I'm a pen&paper role-player, and - depending on the system - a higher number does not necessarily equal better stats. I thought that the number here represented the cooldown time, and looking at it this way means higher = slower.Merethif wrote:It's pretty obvious that HIGHER speed mean the something is FASTER. But thanks for being a smartass. That gives you lots of karma points, I'm sure.
Exactly. Thank you!Bees wrote:HIGHER duration of swing, obviously.

But I guess the stat would be simply called cooldown, not speed, if developers were thinking about cooldownAshantara wrote:Very funny. Anyway, I see your point about higher number does not necessarily equal better stats in some RPG, like that infamous AD&D Armour Class. This was weird stat indeed, and its logic was beyond my comprehension.
ok, enough being smartass... for today

Heh heh, exactly. Gotta love your Armor Class -10 magical breastplate, though!Merethif wrote:[...] like that infamous AD&D Armour Class. This was weird stat indeed, and its logic was beyond my comprehension.
