I cant get past the first level because my fighters eventually get worn down with fight after fight, and I cannot find any way to heal hitpoints.

Hit "r".

From the inventory screen there's a ZZZ button in the top right.

There will also be a blue crystal near the end of each level (although depending on the layout, you may be able to access it earlier than that) that fully heals your party when activated. They recharge every few minutes, so if you're having trouble resting (or are low on food), you can backtrack to the nearest one and use it instead.

Like other people said pressing " R " ( Deafult ) will make you rest which i found out speeding up enermie movement , getting attacked or pressing any key will stop you , also pressing the Blue life crystal will heal and max your guys health and energy , sadly not maxing their food also its the only way to bring dead party members to life.
