illegible font anomaly

I'm not sure if it is just me in my old age, or my clunky old computer, but the fonts on some of the lettering in the game are illegible, like this aclhemy scroll. I can read that it is a scroll, it's weight beyond that its very fuzzy and hard to make out if at all.

I have done every thing from setting the specs to highest back to the lowest and disabled a couple of the key features, still nothing helps. I know some of it might seem trivial, like for instance the item's descriptions. Some of the caption is funny to read, such as that on the loin cloth. I had to pull out my magnifying glass to read it just for curiosity's sake

My question: Am I isolated in this case or is [has] any one else been experiencing this anomaly with the illegible fonts ? Is there a way to make them enlarged ?

Actual in game picture from one of my sessions, never mind that I failed to name my prisoner. Another topic for a latter time, the ability to edit portraits/name after creations.

The New Prisoner is indeed something that slipped up on more than one person.

What resolution are you running at? It can matter for this kind of stuff. Did you try different resolutions?

Is this anything to do with Anti-Aliasing - I know some games have this blurry AA going on (it can probably be forced in the cards control panel). The setting works great in games like Skyrim for blurring those jagged aliased edges.

Maybe this is being applied (badly) here?

I think it's FXAA or something - I can't quite remember.

EDIT: I'm copying/pasting this from another source - but it seems to fit the situation:

"FXAA is Nvidia's version of AMD's morphological antialiasing. Yes it is supposed to replace real AA without the performance hit of real AA. It works pretty well but can cause a general blurring of everything and a slight loss of sharpness and sometimes some text problems since FXAA is applied to the entire rendered scene in the raster level rather than when the scene is generated."

You probably have some custom MipMap settings in your graphics card drivers. See this thread for additional information: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=690

edit: I moved the thread to support and tech discussion
