OK when leveling-up, there is no Weapon Type Spear like there is for Swords.

So, witch Weapon Type should I level up to be better with using a Spear

There is no spear(polearm) type weapon skill tree. There is only "spear" type weapon in the game.

It's got a solid mechanic though. Could easily implement a polearm tree for some sort of new melee class if they ever make one.

the spear exists for the sole purpose of giving your Mage something to do for the first five floors of the dungeon. seriously.

Mage and/or your Thrown Weapons/Missile Weapons character. Give them a Spear and they have a way to attack if they A) don't know any spells yet (Mage) or B) only have 1 or 2 Thrown Weapons available (like a single rock or shuriken). There's no way to make Spears "better" with Skill Points because they are a stop-gap weapon, given to you until you're deep enough into the dungeon to have a couple spells and/or a small stack of thrown weapons/bow and arrow to use instead.

Didn't even notice a Spear was always thrown.

In the real world Spears can be used to jab or thrust, NOT just thrown. I think the game designers missed this.

Spear is not a thrown weapon in LoG.

Yeah the spear in LoG is a melee weapon. A throwing spear is normally called a javelin.

Spears are cool. I wish they had their own skill set.

Me to, hopefully a mod or expansion will add that along with new classes.

Hmm what class would be ideal for spears? I'm thinking Valkyrie!

A backrow, armored melee class would be nice to have. The tradeoff would be less damage than you're rampaging, frontline axewielders, but a backrower not dieing for being sneezed at would be welcomed to my teams.
