Level 9: Is this a bug?

After i pick up the book nothing happens, am i missing something?

There are 3 shelves facing the center of the map on that level accessible from different directions. Make sure there are no items placed on those and you should be able to proceed.

This puzzle is very nasty. When I found that spell scroll I immediatelly put it back in the niche because the item was useless to me. I then spent a long time figuring out what I missed and in the end I had to use the walkthrough. I probably should have figured out that since all three niches join at the same point on the map then there must be something about them, but I failed

Oh man, that part suuuucked. I didn't get the scroll from the ice lizard section, and had to go back through there, dying about 20 times trying.

Wow, I never even knew you needed to remove those. I got it right by accident. That's good to know.
