this game seems very interesting to me, however, I am not very good at old-school type games. I know what kind of game this is, but is it very hard like the old games its based on? is there difficulty modes? perhaps an easier mode for those who need to get used to the game before moving on to harder difficulties?

I believe the game is very accessible for new players, especially at easy difficulty and automap enabled. There's a pre made party you can start with, as well, so you don't have to ponder what kind of characters to make.

One strategy is to take the pre made party, play a couple of levels and then restart with your own. If the game's been too easy, might as well crank up the difficulty as well

First levels are pretty easy and the difficulty both in puzzles and monsters ramp up steadily.

According to petri, easy in LoG is medium in other games and medium in LoG is hard in other games. So hard is going to be....sleepless night-beer drinkin'-note writtin'-mom yellin'-spouse screamin'- alarm clock breakin' HARD....
