So I got to ask how many people first tried the dungeon crawl with this game? I would be interested to hear first impressions from this old skool/new skool genre.
I also think Legend of Grimrock will set a standard for dungeon crawlers to come in the indie scene with its use of modern graphics and old skool design.
Anyway back to my question... any newbies to the genre?
Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
Re: Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
I was completely new to the genre. I have to say after playing it, my appreciation for the people who put the time in making and playing them is extremely high. I can see how the puzzles keep pulling people back for wanting more.
Re: Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
The closest thing I'd every played to a "dungeon crawler" was the original Diablo. So I'd say I was new to the genre. One of the best RPGs I've played in years as a result.
Re: Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
This is my first game that I have played of this genre. I required help from walk-through websites at many stages in the game due having no idea what puzzles required and how to figure them out. Since playing straight-forward games like WoW and such, I found the thinking pattern involved in this game quite hard, such as searching every single wall for something out of the ordinary.
Needless to say, I find this game very unique and extremely enjoyable.

Re: Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
First time dungeon crawler here...closest thing I played back in the day was Hexen. I honestly couldnt play the old school crawlers though just b/c of how it uses sprites for the entire environment...I need that smooth transition lol.
Re: Anyone new to dungeon crawling?
First dungeon crawler for me, haven't played EoB or any other old games as Im Diablo/Baldur's Gate generation.
I really love RPG's (both video game and pen&paper) and this game was just perfect for me. Hopefully map editor brings alot more content to LoG, as game it's awesome but it also has potential to became popular platform for dungeon exploring. I could easily see some huge fan creating 50 level dungeon that takes weeks to complete. *drool*
