Another way to think of it is when you see what your looking at "shift" it has turned you around, i moved through the hallway, and when direction reverses, i step backwards then sidestep to the next"turn point" then move backwards again, leaving an item on the side of the turn point you want to go will help too.

or just look at the 'rings' on the corners of walls, which 'magically dissapear' when you go through the tile. actually they stay there, you are just turned around, you can use em for reference as to which way you should go. the shift event only trigggers once you step onto a tile, you can easily rotate on the tile or step off it and it wont shift again.

or just remember where the two locations are (drop them onto your map) and remember to spin around when you hit them.
