This is the forum for helping you out if you're stuck or if you want to discuss the nitty gritty details of the dungeons within Mount Grimrock. Warning: forum contains spoilers!
I've found the map sheet through the closed gate at lvl 8.
Back to lvl 7, I've found the button shown on the map. but when I click it nothing seems to happens.
I've done lvl 9, and now I'm heading to 10. Should I continue my way, or did I miss something to open the vault of the dismantler ?
Some help (but no big spoil please, just a little little tiny push) might be helpfull.. thanks
Well, remember the walk-about in lvl7, where you first encountered the tentacle monster and were flanked by an Uggardian? The place were you could find a flail?
Well, somewhere there is some rune on the wall, you might have overlooked. It opens up an entrance to the vault somewhere in that walkabout/round walk/corridor loop. In case you are still stuck, read up here: http://www.gamebanshee.com/legendofgrim ... level7.php.
But I really recommend NOT to read it. You cannot unread things once read and it becomes a custom very fast ... do not let yourself be seduced!

Most of all, don't get frustrated and feel that you've wasted time instead of having fun.
Got to say that I quite often look up things that I missed just because I can cut corner instead of grinding my way through the level again and stare at hundrds of identical walls in search for buttons or runes while I'm not getting paid for it.
When I load up the game, I also start the browser and load up the gamebanshee-site, tbh.
But this I do because I do not know wether I will have time for another play-through and I like exploring much more then riddle-solving. But I know others are different there, therefore my word of caution.
The gamebanshee-guide is great and I would have never got past some riddles w/o them (the one with the room full of plates which you have to touch exactly in order ... a sequence some 20(!) steps long? No thx, I prefer my guide here.

I for one think that this puzzle was very fun. But mileages vary and the Gamebanshee guide can definitely be useful, I used it to find the last missing secret on my 2nd playthrough.
