Legend of Grimrock 1 explanation

I played Legend of Grimrock several times but story is not fully clear.

What is Cube? What exactly it did, why it was imprisoned?
Who are goromorg? Why they guard cube?
Why they do not destroy Cube themselves but guard it instead?
Why do they reset traps and protect dungeon instead of just closing its entrance?
How long ago was war with Cubes and who waged it? Gorogorm?
How Cube appeared in Grimrock, it was there at first place or was put there?

And who build Grimrock prison exactly?

Who understands more than me please advise.

From what I remember

The cube is an ancient being (in other words, we don't know who made it or why)
The dungeon was created to imprison it, because no one could destroy it. It is, after all, called "The Undying One". The dungeon exists both to keep the cube in, and keep people out
People found the dungeon and started throwing prisoners there. Apparently they didn't know why the dungeon existed. But it was efficient in getting rid of prisoners
During the dream sequences the cube says "they" keep resetting the traps, but it's not clear who are "they"

"They" are goromorg.

Why was cube imprisoned? And why it was not destroyed as heroes show that this can be (somewhat) easily done.

Also what are "Outer Realms" that are mentioned in Uggardians description?

And who exactly are goromorg? Ancient beings of planet or they came from another dimension/realm?

What's that "Uggardian description"?

The cube didn't kill the party because it needed you to open the escape portal
The messages that the cube says to the party, for reference: https://grimrock.fandom.com/wiki/Undying_One

"I watched this dungeon being built.
But they took it away from my people and twisted it.
Filled it with traps and riddles.
That is not how this place was meant to be."

What he is talking about?
Why did cube(s) built this dungeon?

I think this is just him trying to trick you. At that point in the game you don't know who's talking to you exactly
Also "his people" could just mean his slaves :P

I took a stab at expanding the lore with several writings included in Master Quest, especially throughout the expanded ending section, but also in the crypt of the founders (or whatever it was called).
