Request: Grimrock.exe switch to load loose levels

Post by UncleSporky »

Maybe this isn't realistic or something you guys would be willing to do, but I thought it was worth asking.

Could we have a program switch to load loose levels from assets/dungeons/Grimrock? Maybe -l, so a shortcut could say "Grimrock.exe -l" and the program would look for folders first before using default maps?

I know it'd just be a dumb stopgap until your actual editor is released, but if it's not a big deal to put in, it'd be nice to have.

Currently we have to go into Grimrock.dat and blank out the file hashes to make it check the folders, which is bothersome. :P If you can't or won't do this, no problem. I understand wanting to be protective of your property.

That's one way but I haven't really decided yet how to implement custom levels. I'm going to start working on the level editing / modding stuff after the first patch, hopefully starting on Monday next week.

Possibly give us a dungeon directory that allows us to create separate dungeon folders. In these dungeon folders, levels and other relevant loose files would be the structure of that particular dungeon.
