Any chance of a mini-map?

I am loving the hell out of this game. Great work guys!
My only gripe thus far is the lack of a mini-map somewhere on the screen. It's kind of annoying to have to Tab open the map every time I want to see where I am. I'd love to see something like "The Quest" has, or even Metroid. It might seem small, but this is a huge convenience. Referencing the map all the time just breaks the flow of the game IMO

Didn't DM2 have this as a magic item or a spell or something? Hmm. Looking it up, there was a see-through-walls spell, and then there was the magic map added in CSB and also available in DM2.
Loved the "utility magic" aspect of DM/CSB.

Man, you've been definitely playing too much WOW or similar WTF-U-R-WAY-2-SPOILED-GAMES lately^^

Draw your own map old school style, and it will always be available there on the desk right beside you. Not a minimap, but a full size map. Having a minimap on the screen would have ruined the experience for me.

Guys. This is a feature which is so heavily WoW-influenced that it was in CSB, and also in DM2. Over a decade before WoW.
Seriously, what is with the hostility to people who post ideas? And what is with the knee-jerk bashing of an idea that we know the creators of the original DM considered to be a good thing to add to their game?

I agree, this is the one "feature" that I miss while playing. For those that don't want to map, it would be very nice to have a minimap in the corner. Opening up the full map constantly is definitely not as nice. You gotta figure if the party were traveling around, they wouldn't put the map in their bag and then take it out every fork in the path. The mage in the back would be holding it open except during battles.
Kidding aside, it would make an awesome game that much better in my book. I hope it can be considered.

While I personally wouldn't play Grimrock with a mini map, I certainly wouldn't object to it being a toggle as the majority of mini maps are in games. Gamers today are a lot more diverse than they were 20 years ago, having more options to tweak the game to suit your playstyle are always welcome.

Well, I know I get a little dismissive towards suggestions to add new, 'modern' gameplay features to this old-school game.
I think it is because I treasure the fact that it is so old-school I want to defend it..but I am old too hahaha.
Anyway, after thinking about it if it was a toggle why not? As long as it was disabled in 'old-school' mode then what would it hurt?
I personally think it is a 'modern' convenience that LoG doesn't need, but it already has auto-map right?

Yeah I don't quite get the hostility round these parts sometimes.
It's a basic request, that if made as a toggle would affect no one cept those who choose to use it. Not to mention just cause a game idea/concept is old doesn't mean it's perfect and immune to updates/improvements lighten the hell up.
