3rd person option.

Post by CrawlerJe »

I notice many people talking about getting motion sick, and headaches.. (this is common in first person games) I myself have felt a little woozzy playing from time to time. 3rd person often can fix this issue. the reason why 3rd person can fix this is you have something in the foreground to focus on, and the rest just blurs a bit, letting you passivly see the background which in turn stops the motion sickness..

So that said.. I wonder if adding a 3rd person option down the road could be in the cards. For me personally i prefer 3rd person and use it in basically every game that has the option and honestly for this game i think it would be awesome.

It would be so cool seeing those 4 members of the group, moving in formation, and attacking, and dodging and parrying.. (the combat would liven up a bit as well outside of just looking cool)

It could also add a deeper connection to the party/characters by letting us see them, as they add gear as you would be seeing the effects of gearing up, outside of a few items on the papper dolls.

That said, adding this would d definatly add some major work for the animators art guy/guys.. as most of that would be about that skill set, vrs the coders.

So i guess some basic questions...

Is it possible for this down the road..

Is it something people would like to see..?

It would take far too much work from the devs to start working on new animation, and models.

Kind of a waste of time for this sort of game.

Most of the mobs appear right at your feet. If you've got a big minotaur in your front line, isn't he going to be blocking your vision?

Also, third person works well for open areas but is horrible in confined spaces unless you're talking about a complete redesign to isometric or some other 2.5D view.

If you are feeling ill and getting motion sickness in a 1st-person game an FOV slider is what you want, not a 3rd-person perspective.

A third person mode would be completely ridiculous for this genre of game.

What's completely ridiculous is the single-handed hilt on a sword as long as the one in your avatar image, sir! ><

There is so much "missing the point" in relation to LOG that I'm starting to doubt my sanity.

Never would a third person option work in a game like this. There is no free moving . You would be watching your guy rotate. It would be terrible the whole group moving and rotating like robots.

i think 3rd person camera movements in a confined space would cause even worse motion sickness in my opinion
