Quirk: Items on the floor are sometimes hard to pick up

Sometimes items on the floor are hard to pick up, because the character portraits are placed above them. This is espacially difficult when the item is lying in the right corner of a one square sized alcove so you cannot approach it from a different side or push it around. It only happend a few times and I always managed to pick up the item by randomly clicking near it until finding the right pixel, so it's actually not a big deal, but it can be a bit anoying.

I think this might happen due to my screen resolution. I still own an old 4:3 display so the character portraits are closer to the middle of the screen. To reproduce just try to pick up the shuriken you can find in the secret room with that "cuthulu"-like statue in level 1, close to the entrance.

Hi,

i also play on an 17" TFT, 4:3 1280x1024. And the really interesting stuff is always hard to pickup.

For me, it usually works to press the right mouse button and tilt the view. You have to be fast, but you can take the items, although it might require two or three tries.

Also try turning left or right, maybe the item is visible from the other angle.

@Elderian: thanks for the hints. Didn't try to use the first person view to pick up an item, will give it a try next time.

Just noticed that this will be addressed by the upcoming patch:
- adjusted gui layout and camera fov so that user interface elements do not overlap with important screen areas on non-widescreen displays
I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I looked yesterday. ;)

I've found that kicking the item across the room until I can grab it works too... unless I kick it into a corner or something :D
