One thing i feel like adressing is that my choice of magic should be more rewarding. Fire should work better against ice and visa versa. Would also be cool if fire could be
nullefied against air or even backdrafted to you. That would make magic more dangerous and exciting.

See, now these are cool suggestions. Not like some of the other crap I've seen pop up.
Perhaps in usermade dungeons we'll see something like this, maybe when custom spells inevitably pop up at some point. Right now most (all?) of air magic revolves around electricity, so if someone were to put in razorwind or something similar, a one-square air shield that deflects fire spells wouldn't seem unreasonable.

There's a fine line between "unpredictable" and "frustrating". If you make magic less like a "everyday hammer" like it is in most games (if not all!), it starts to be frustrating.
Anyway, am I the only one who burned his own team by throwing a fireball at a wall? =)

No...walls ,gates,doors..pretty much everything.
Though throwing a fireball into the wall should have more of an impact then burning the party standing only
on the square next to the wall. It should backtrack at least three squares if not more. If an enemie is hit
with a fireball it should radiate to the sides and deal at least some damage.

No, although mine was a poison bolt... and I've done it several times.

Actually, I have 2 mages and never accidentally done that. That being said, I have accidentally RAN INTO a lightning bolt I threw, not knowing I could catch up and get nuked XD.

I've done this. I also misjudged the timing of a turn and did the wall thing.
Good old dungeon crawlers. At least I don't feel so stupid running around bashing my head into every other wall because I'm in a rush, ala Dungeon Master.

There's a bit of a tradeoff, in that if you make things ignore certain damage types, it can really hurt a party that's too specialized. Whether this is a bonus or a problem is sort of a matter of taste.
