Chekeroom help

Have placed items from the start on both doors on all titles but noting happens for me.
If can get a hint what is I am doing wrong here.

it is supossed to be checkered... like, some white and some dark... but, they are all pressure plates... I wonder... what makes a pressure plate go "Dark" ?

The reason I hate this puzzle and the reason I could never solve it is because it makes a 'reset' sound when you step back out the entrance to the checkered room.
This makes a reasonable person think that the sequence of presses is important. But it isn't. That sound doesn't mean anything. It is just there to infuriate you.
Why does it click every time you step on a pressure plate and then make a reset click when you come back to the start of the room? That sound means nothing. It is the devil. Just ignore it.
Evil, evil puzzle.

Oh my god. I just figured it out. The sound is different because it is the 'stepping off a pressure plate' sound whereas moving around the checkered room gives you a 'stepping off a pressure plate' + 'stepping onto another pressure plate' sound. Dammit dammit dammit I can't believe that wasn't obvious to me
