Hi,
This is the first game of it's type that I played (although it made me go out and try Dungeon Master). At first I started with hardcore mode and was having a entertaining time mapping the first floor (although it was relatively simple and I guess didn't need mapping). I continued on mapping the second floor although once I got to a teleporter, I completely lost my footing of where I was at (which isn't a bad thing at all) and I decided to give up hand mapping and start over with automapping.
Now onto my idea. As of now, the automap tells you exactly where you are and even the direction you are facing. I was thinking that it would be a good option to turn that off so that you would have to rely on the compass more and figure out where you exactly are (except when exploring new parts of the map). That way it should have more of a feel of a handmade map.
A more unreasonable idea is to (as brought up before on this forum) "steal" Etrian Odyssey's map system still having Tab bring up the map but you need to still create the map. I guess I can find an outside mapping program but alt-tabbing or other things gets annoying.
That said, I am loving this game (I pre-ordered it but school is preventing me from playing it much -_-) and am trying out other oldie's from this genre (so far tried Anvil of Fate, Dungeon Hack, and Dungeon Master). I can't wait to see what modders can bring to the table.

Re: Automap Idea
Actually, this was something I suggested to them about two weeks before they announced the release date. I would like the option to create the map manually within the game.Soultwister wrote:A more unreasonable idea is to (as brought up before on this forum) "steal" Etrian Odyssey's map system still having Tab bring up the map but you need to still create the map.
