Map problems

Post by Daniknamchang »

I watched the tutorials on levels and elevation and I made sure that all of my game coordinates were different but for some reason, the game only draws the map a few squares from the left side of every level.

A screenshot might be really helpful here.

(Ideally the in-game map, in the editor, with the level list visible.)

For example:

How do you add a picture?

To get the picture, you can [on Windows OS], press the PRTSCR key; (short for Print Screen). This copies what you see on the screen on to the Windows clipboard. Then you open an image editor (like MS Paint, in the accessories menu). You can then choose to paste the image into the editor [usually via the Edit menu, or by pressing [CRTL] and [V]. Save your image.

To have it display here, it needs to be hosted somewhere. There are many free hosting service websites that will let you upload your image, and give access to a link that you can post here; using the IMG tag (shown above).

I used a blank level for the screenshot but this is happening on every level.

That really helps visualize the problem. I have not seen this issue before, but perhaps others have. I was unable to replicate it in the editor.

I assume this doesn't happen in your other map projects, or in new ones; and persists after closing and re-opening the editor?

If it were my map, I would first make a copy of the project folder (as a backup), and start a new map, and swap out the new dungeon.lua file for the one in the backup [along with any custom asset defs]. Check for the problem.
If the problem occurs, I would then start systematically removing scripts and any custom assets [and checking for the problem after each], until the problem ceased to exist. Then you would know [the location of] the cause.

**But you should wait a while for additional answers from others here; it might save you all the trouble above, if someone has seen this issue before, and knows the cause of it.

are you sure this is a bug?

or is it because you use the map while you don't render the level in full screen?

stop the preview

press 'F5' to play preview
then press 'f' to put fullscreen on

then see what's going on the map

It was the preview.
I just have to put it in full screen.
