I started a Mage with points in Ice spells. Unfortunately, I didn't find any scrolls for Ice for quite some time. Also, none of the symbols seemed to cast anything for the mage. Does it require the scroll to cast the spell?

I think it would be beneficial to start mages with a basic spell scroll that matches their elemental skills. Likely, the element that has the most points placed in it, or random if points are equally distributed.

I understand that they are prisoners and come to the dungeon naked. Though, let's just assume the mage was smart enough to hide a spell scroll in a place they likely didn't check.

As long as you have sufficient skill in the certain magic type, and the right runes, you can cast the spell. Doesn't matter if you have the scroll or not.

It's very easy, just think about the rune's meanings. It's in the manual.

You don't need the scrolls. Spells are usually 2-4 runes, not only one. (Usually)

And the beginner spells are 1-rune only.

Whoops. Didn't realize that. Sorry.

Ice isn't really a beginner school anyway. It requires more points early on to be effective, so it's the not the best school to choose if you're new to the game.

Yeah my mage was also an ice mage and he's pretty much undereleveled by now.

Ice may not be a beginner school, but its sure the easiest to get along with, once you get ice bolt the game gets much easier :p
