Level 3 counterclockwise portal problem

OK searched the forum for the counterclockwise portal issue.

Apparently there's a pressure plate beyond the far gate that opens up, you're supposed to throw something through quickly while the gate is up, having it land on the plate and it will close the pit in the middle.

I've thrown rocks, shurieken etc through and all looks OK except the pit never closes!

What'd I miss?

There are two plates. Turn your head a bit while looking at one

There is no pressure plate beyond the far gate but there are two pressure plates required for that puzzle. The pressure plate that opens the far gate is actually the second plate to be activated. Facing the far gate, the first plate is two squares left of the pit. Solution:

Facing the far gate, turn left and wait for a portal to pass the square to your right. Insync with the portal timing, move right, move backwards, move right, throw rock(or something). The first pressure plate will close the pit. Move forward over pit or if you were hit by a portal then move two spaces forward over pit. Now time to activate second plate. Facing far gate, wait for a portal to pass the square on your right. Move right, throw rock(or something), move left, and keep moving forward through the far gate.

Got it. And when I finally got through the back gate, all the crap I threw there was all sitting in a pile!
